Chat modes

Cizgen has two chat modes, switched with the selector next to the tools button under the message box. A mode is a posture: unlike a /skill mention (which applies to one message), the mode applies to every message until you change it, and it survives restarts.

Agent — it does the work

The default mode, and everything the rest of these docs describe: the assistant reads your drawing, measures, drafts, and edits — with every permanent change going through the approval gate.

Tutor — it teaches you to do the work

Tutor mode turns the assistant into a one-on-one AutoCAD instructor:

• You draw, it coaches. It gives one small task at a time ("draw a line from 0,0 to 100,0 by typing the coordinates"), waits while you work in AutoCAD, then checks what you actually drew.
• It verifies before it praises. Endpoints, layers, distances are measured from the drawing — "the corner doesn't quite meet, you're 3.2 units short" comes from geometry, not guesswork.
• Mistakes are shown in place. Feedback links zoom to and highlight the exact endpoint or line in AutoCAD.
• Hints before answers. When you're stuck it gives a small hint, then a more concrete one — the full solution only if you ask.
• Demos on request. Say "show me an example" and it draws one itself — through the same preview → approval flow as Agent mode. Nothing changes about what it's allowed to do; only its default posture changes.

What it can and can't see

The tutor reads your drawing, not your screen: it knows which commands you finished and what objects changed, but not which buttons you pressed or whether OSNAP was on. When the process matters, it asks you — and it will say so honestly.

Bring your own lesson plan

Tell it what you want to learn ("teach me blocks") and it starts at the right level. If you have your own list of topics, paste it — or keep it as a user skill and mention it in the lesson: the tutor follows your list instead of its own ladder. At the end of each lesson it summarizes where you are, so you can pick up from there next session.

Modes and skills together

Modes and skills compose: skills add knowledge per message, the mode sets the posture for all of them. Mentioning /your-office-standard while in Tutor mode teaches you to draw to that standard.
